Missouri to reclaim 10,000 acres of abandoned coal mines

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is moving to reclaim some 10,000 acres of abandoned coal mines.

The state received $5.8 million in federal funding for the efforts.

Reclamation would turn the sites into end uses that may include wildlife habitats or development spaces.
