The Missouri attorney general's office and state Department of Natural Resources sued the federal government in an attempt to block a proposed water diversion project in North Dakota.
In the suit against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation and several officials, Missouri claims the project would harm the Missouri River.
The Central North Dakota Project is proposed as a six-mile pipeline that would deliver water originating from Lake Audubon, which is connected to and comprised of Missouri River water.
