DeWitt & Associates Inc. is the general contractor for Missouri State University’s 100,000-square-foot student recreation center, which will include a 7,000-square-foot swimming pool, a jogging track, fitness center, basketball courts, rock-climbing walls and a lounge area with computer centers and flat-panel TVs. The project is designed by MSU architect Doug Sampson. Engineers are St. Louis-based Civil Design Inc., civil; and Grand Island, New York-based Cannon Design, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The roughly $29.6 million project is funded by university-issued bonds, private gifts and a dedicated, self-assessed student fee that has been collected since 2007.
