Missouri State University students can now use their smart phones to have an easier time getting around campus.
The university launched a new application Friday for the Apple iPhone and the Google Android mobile operating systems, according to a news release. The app is a quick reference tool providing information about the university campus, including:
maps of campus building, parking lots and shuttles;
a search function for building and locations;
real-time tracking of BearLine Shuttles, along with route maps and stops;
search features to find off-campus locations;
university headlines in a mobile-friendly format; and
custom university wallpaper and ringtones.
The iPhone version also includes university resources through iTunes.
Chad Killingsworth, MSU's assistant director of Web and new media, said the application uses the latest version of Google Maps, released in May 2009.
The free application is available at the Missouri State Web site or through the iTunes App Store.
Other Springfield businesses that have developed custom apps are American National Property and Casualty Co. and TLC Properties.[[In-content Ad]]
