The COAL post is the latest of several leadership roles Galanes has assumed at MSU, including acting dean of COAL, acting department head of communication and mass media, founding director of citizenship and service learning and provost fellow for public affairs, according to a news release. In the community, she has been active with the Springfield Regional Arts Council, Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the Mayor’s Commission for Children.

Among the awards she has received for teaching, research and service are the Excellence in Community Service Award in 2009 and the Outstanding Graduate Faculty Member Award three times, most recently in 2010, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
