Missouri senator among wealthiest in Congress

Capitol Hill news source Roll Call lists U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill No. 24 among the 50 richest members of Congress.

The Missouri Democrat's net worth slipped by $700,000 last year to settle at $14.93 million, according to Roll Call's review of financial disclosures filed by House and Senate lawmakers. McCaskill's assets are mostly held by her husband, Joseph Shepard, and more than half are tied up in real estate, the report said.

McCaskill is Missouri's only congressional member ranked in the top 50. No. 1 is Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., valued at $355.38 million, and No. 50 is Rep. Bill Foster, D-Ill., $6.67 million.

Roll Call's report said the median net worth of the 112th Congress was $442,007 in 2012.
