The Missouri Senate on Thursday gave initial approval to a compromise bridge funding plan.
The funding initiative would give the Missouri Department of Transportation $50 million immediately to fix bridges across the state.
Another $300 million would be granted, should MoDOT receive enough federal matching funding to rebuild the Interstate 70 bridge in Rocheport, located in mid-Missouri.
The $300 million would come through bonds. The initiative would tackle 250 bridges that need repairs.
