A proposal in the Missouri Senate would phase out personal property tax assessments by 2026.
Sponsored by Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, the legislation was approved by a Senate committee last week.
“I tend to view this as a $1.4 billion stimulus package,” he said, referring to the amount of personal property taxes paid statewide.
