Missouri’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.4 percent from February’s 5.3 percent. The current rate has been on the decline in the last year, falling three-tenths of a point from June 2004.
Educational and health services added 5,000 jobs in June, and employment in professional and business services increased by 3,300 jobs.
Trade, transportation and utilities, construction and government saw the biggest decreases, losing 1,800, 1,500 and 1,300 jobs respectively. Despite seeing a decrease in June, the construction sector has added 2,300 jobs in 2005 overall.
The June rate for unemployment not seasonally adjusted was 5.7 percent, an increase of three-tenths of a point.

While a disruption in international trade has the capacity to hurt local farmers and ranchers, beef producers are having a good go of things at the moment.
