Missouri personal income on the rise

Posted online
Missouri’s third-quarter personal income increased 1.1 percent to $268.4 billion, up from $258.8 billion in the same quarter a year earlier, according to a recent report by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The Show-Me State is on par with the U.S. average, which also was 1.1 percent. Personal income is determined by adding together net earnings, dividends, interest and rent, and transfer payments, according to a news release.

Missouri ranked 24th in the nation in terms of percentage growth in personal income during the third quarter compared with the previous three-month period of 2015. No. 1 was South Dakota with a 1.4 percent increase.

During the quarter, national earnings grew in 22 of the 24 industries tracked by the BEA, according to the release.
