TRIM officials fought for Senate Bill 30 – which they describe as “a landmark manufacturing law.” Manufacturers are missing out on huge tax savings, according to TRIM.
“We are hearing from many vendors that less than half of our state’s manufacturers are taking advantage of it,” TRIM Executive Director Ray McCarty said in a news release. “There are no strings attached to this exemption, and depending on the size of the manufacturer, it could save a company hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
The law, which took effect Aug. 28, exempts all utilities, machinery, equipment and chemicals used in manufacturing production, processing or mining from state sales taxes and state and local use taxes.
