A Mount Vernon woman has been sentenced to 23 months in prison for defrauding the Missouri Lottery.
Amy Young, 42, was sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud, according to a news release from the office of R. Matthew Price, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
Young and co-conspirators used fraudulent credit cards and credit card numbers to buy Missouri Lottery tickets at a Joplin gas station, law enforcement officials say.
In July and August of 2022, Young and her co-conspirators made roughly $62,083 in fraudulent transactions and collected $54,248 in cash prizes, according to the release.
Prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Carney, the case was investigated by the FBI and the Joplin Police Department.
