Missouri liquor wholesalers win court ruling

A Miami-based liquor distributor has lost its bid to overturn Missouri’s Prohibition-era residency requirement for alcohol wholesalers, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Southern Wine & Spirits lost its appeal in a ruling filed yesterday. The company had sued Missouri's Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control in 2011 after being denied a license to sell liquor wholesale in Missouri because of the state's residency requirement.

St. Louis-based wholesaler Major Brands, a wholesale company that also distributes in Springfield, applauded the court's efforts.
