Missouri law: Rams could fire Michael Sam for being gay

The St. Louis Rams' selection of openly gay defensive lineman Michael Sam in the NFL draft could help change Missouri law.

The inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity as projected nondiscrimination categories are included in House Bill 1930. However, that bill, which went before the House March 13, has not passed.

Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and others urged support for the measure, saying under current Missouri law, Sam and others could be denied employment for being gay, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
