Missouri judges, lawyers, and court personnel pay honor this week to jurors throughout the state, according to a news release from the Missouri Bar Association.
The occasion is Juror Appreciation Week, April 30-May 4.
Missouri Bar President John W. Briscoe said, "Juror Appreciation Week is a good opportunity for judges, lawyers, and everyone associated with the courts to let citizens know that no one takes for granted the significance of their contribution."
Chief Justice William Ray Price Jr. of the state supreme court established the observance last year by issuing an order that read:
"Each year thousands of Missourians perform one of the most significant civic duties granted to citizens they serve as fair and impartial jurors in communities throughout the state. To honor those citizens who have performed their civic duty, all Missouri courts are directed to observe Juror Appreciation Week."
