The Missouri Job Center location in north Springfield has reopened after a temporary closure brought on by heavy rain early last week.
The 1660 N. Campbell Ave. location fully resumed operations today, according to a news release. The Missouri Job Center is using a temporary entrance located along Boonville Avenue.
“The public-facing resource area, which was impacted the most by water damage, has been temporarily relocated within the building to provide customers with a full range of services including job searches, enrollment in training programs and filing for unemployment benefits,” said Ericka Schmeeckle, assistant director of the city of Springfield's department of Economic Vitality and Workforce Development, in the release. “Customers can also meet with case managers for career guidance and assessments."
The Missouri Job Center became temporarily closed to the public on March 2 after overnight rain hit the building. A contractor was in the process of updating the roof when the water damage occurred, and crews were quickly able to identify and start to fix the affected area, according to past reporting.
Repair and restoration work is slated to continue in the coming weeks.
