Missouri investors to receive $1.8M in restitution

Posted online
Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan has announced that more than $1.8 million will be distributed to dozens of Missouri investors by Sept. 11.

These restitution payments are the result of the Global Research Analyst Settlement cases from 2003-2006.

The Global Research Analyst Settlement stemmed from conflicts of interest between the research analysis and investment banking arms of major investment firms, according to a news release from Carnahan’s office. Some research analysts at these firms were publicly giving stocks “buy” ratings, while privately calling the same stocks “poor” buys.

Some investors received partial payments from a federal restitution plan, but the payments announced in August will supplement those.

“These investors deserve to have their losses returned to them,” Carnahan said in the release.

Carnahan and the Missouri Securities Division worked closely with expert administrators from the Federal Settlement Distribution Plan to determine which investors should receive restitution. Investors can see the plan and track ongoing developments with remaining federal distribution funds at www.globalresearchanalystsettlement.com.
