The Missouri House of Representatives on Wednesday passed wide-ranging abortion restrictions.
The legislation would ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected. Similar bans in Arkansas, Iowa and North Dakota have been rejected by courts.
The proposal, which now heads to the Senate, is designed to outlaw abortions in the state even if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.
