Missouri House approves right-to-work bill

Posted online
On a 91-64 vote, the state House sent the right-to-work bill to the Missouri Senate. However, even if the bill does win in the Senate, Gov. Jay Nixon is expected to veto it, The Associated Press reports.

The bill, argued by supporters, would encourage businesses to move to Missouri and drive economic growth. Opponents argue unions must represent everyone in the work place.

Voting against the bill were 40 Democrats, 23 Republicans and one Independent, Rep. Keith English. All votes for the bill were cast by Republicans.

The legislation would bar unions from charging any fees to nonunion members.
