Missouri's Hot Weather Law went into effect on June 1.
The law prohibits utility companies from disconnecting electric services when the National Weather Service predicts temperatures greater than 95 degrees Fahrenheit or a heat index greater than 105 degrees Fahrenheit, KOMU reports.
All electric utility service providers in Missouri are impacted by the law.
