The average price for a gallon of unleaded gas in Missouri jumped more than 11 cents in the last week, according to MissouriGasPrices.com.
Gas prices averaged $2.70 per gallon statewide on Monday, according to the site. The price is roughly 5 percent lower than the $2.83 per gallon national average as of Monday.
The lowest reported price at Springfield gas stations increased Tuesday to $2.69 a gallon, up from $2.55 a day ago, according to the site.
Missouri prices are 80.7 cents per gallon higher than at this time in 2009 and 12.7 cents per gallon higher than in March. Despite the increases, Missouri still has the ninth-lowest average prices in the country. South Carolina is the lowest, at $2.64 per gallon.
The national average per gallon is up 10.4 cents compared to March and up 82 cents in the last 12 months.
MissouriGasPrices.com is one of more than 200 live gas-price-tracking Web sites in the United States and Canada owned and operated by Minnesota-based GasBuddy.com. The site relies on customers to submit price information; winners are then randomly drawn to receive weekly gas cards.
