Missouri gas prices fall from September highs

Posted online
Missouri retail gas prices, though still higher than this time last year, fell more than 5 percent from September’s record highs.

A survey by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Energy Center found that the retail price for gas was at $2.87 a gallon as of Oct. 3, down 15.7 cents from $3.03 a gallon in September. The current price is still 56 percent higher than October 2004.

The survey cites the return of some Gulf Coast production and a decline in consumer demand as reasons for the price drop. Consumer demand fell 2.6 percent from last year.

Lower domestic supplies and production levels pushed diesel prices up 21.6 cents from last month to $3.01 a gallon, an 8 percent increase over September and a 53 percent increase over the same time last year. [[In-content Ad]]
