Gas prices in Missouri decreased more than the national average, which fell 8.8 cents a gallon in the last week to $3.83 a gallon, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
State gas prices on May 22 were $1.08 a gallon higher than the same day a year ago, and 8.4 cents per gallon lower than one month ago. The national average is $1.04 per gallon higher than the same day a year ago, and 0.1 cent higher per gallon than one month ago, the release said.
The cheapest gas in Springfield, at $3.59 a gallon, could be found as of 9:55 a.m. at Rapid Robert’s Conoco, 945 S. Campbell Ave., and Sam’s Club, 745 W. El Camino Alto. The highest-priced gas, at $3.67 a gallon, was at Shell, 2631 N. Glenstone Ave., according to MissouriGasPrices.com.
The U.S. price per barrel for crude oil was $106.75 as of May 13, compared to $73.88 a barrel a year before, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Light sweet crude oil futures for July were trading at $99.85 on the New York Mercantile Exchange as of 10:04 a.m., according to CME Group.
