Average gasoline prices in Missouri continue to decline week-to-week, bucking the usual trend of rising prices in the summer, according to the latest data from MissouriGasPrices.com.
The average cost of a gallon of unleaded gas in Missouri was $2.48 on Sunday, down 8 cents from a week earlier. The national average was $2.70 per gallon, down 2 cents from the week before.
Missouri gas prices Sunday were 3.9 cents per gallon lower than on the same date a year ago and 27.5 cents lower than on the same date a month ago. The national average as of Sunday had decreased 18 cents in the last month but increased nearly 6 cents in the last year.
Springfield gas prices, reported by drivers in the area, averaged $2.32 to $2.33 per gallon, though one station reported fuel prices as low as $2.30.
