Missouri Democratic Party has a new top donor

Posted online
With a nearly quarter-million-dollar donation, Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., tops the Democratic donation heap in Missouri.

The senior United States senator from  Missouri donated $240,000 to the party, topping the previous highest donation of $200,000 from Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports McCaskill's check accounted for the majority of the $335,000 the state Democratic Party collected on Friday, according to the Missouri Ethics Commission.

Also of note, St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley – a democrat – received $50,000 from his long-time supporter Rex Sinquefield. However, St. Louis Public Radio reports Sinquefield is playing both sides of the fence as he gave even more to a Republican rival for Dooley's job, state Rep. Rick Stream.

On Monday, the Missouri Ethics Commission reported Sinquefield donated $100,000 to Stream, who is competing against Tony Pousosa, a Green Park alderman, in the Republican primary for county executive, the station reports.
