Missouri ‘Christian Health Care Ministry’ founder pleads guilty to fraud

The founder of a tax-exempt organization in Missouri marketed as a "Christian Health Care Sharing Ministry" has pleaded guilty to fraud.

Craig Anthony Reynolds, 61, of St. Joseph, admitted to defrauding members of more than $8 million. He must forfeit money he made from the scheme, along with fraudulent purchases such as residences and a motorcycle.

The tax-exempt organization, called Medical Cost Sharing, was marketed on its website as a service that helped cover health care costs for members who made monthly payments.
