Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has launched an investigation into kratom and 7-OH, or 7-hydroxymitragynine.
Hanaway claims consumers “may be exposed to unapproved, unsafe and deceptively marketed opioid-like drugs.”
Hanaway's office has issued “civil investigative demand” letters to six companies seeking documents such as lab tests results and research on health risks associated with the products.
