Mississippi has rejected a state flag design featuring a giant mosquito.
Officials with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History say the design slipped through the screening process accidentally. It was posted online Monday with other flag candidates.
The state has solicited designs from residents after retiring the last state banner with the Confederate battle emblem.
