A CD-ROM born of the collaborative efforts of three Springfield organizations earned one of three International Gold Awards in the new media category at the 34th annual festival of the Media Com-munications Association-International.
Primary Care Network, Margaret Castrey & Associates and Associated Video Producers share the credit for developing and producing the "Migraine Blues" CD-ROM, a musical program approved for three hours of continuing medical education credit.
According to an announcement from the collaborating companies, the International Gold Awards in the new media category recognize the use of creativity, production values and technical quality in developing high-impact projects.
"Migraine Blues" uses professionally produced music videos and animation to address the serious business of continuing medical education.
Some video segments on the disc depict a physician-patient interview and an educational session on migraines.
Presentations by national experts provide the latest information on migraines and cluster headaches, medical treatment and behavioral management.
Also included on the disc is a new 46-page booklet titled "Patient-Centered Strategies for Effective Management of Migraine."
Members of the Media Communications Association-International include Abbott Labs, the American Red Cross, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Johnson & Johnson, Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic and Dow.
