Mighty storm hammers Northeast

Posted online
A mighty storm marched resolutely across the deserted streets of the Northeast early Tuesday, showing mercy on New York City and Philadelphia but relentlessly pounding Boston and many coastal areas with heavy snow, high winds and whiteout conditions.

According to USA Today, over 50 million people were in the path of the storm. Roughly 7,000 flights were canceled, school has been closed for millions of children and road travel is temporarily banned in several states.

"It's a case of haves and have nots," AccuWeather meteorologist Tyler Roys told USA Today. "The worst of it is in the coastal areas. Other places have been relatively spared."
