‘Midway’ tops ‘Doctor Sleep’ at box office

Lionsgate’s “Midway" beat Warner Bros.’ “Doctor Sleep" at the box office over the weekend.

"Midway," which tells the story of the 1942 Battle of Midway, opened with $17.5 million.

At No. 2, "Doctor Sleep" had a $14.1 million opening. The movie is a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror classic “The Shining."
