Mid-West Family Broadcasting this week rebranded one of its four local radio stations.
The country music station formerly known as 105.1 BOB FM, which
launched in September 2010, is now called 105.1 The Bull.
“With radio stations, if you don’t have a good name, it’s not going to connect as well with your listeners,” said Sarah O’Toole, Mid-West’s interim events and promotions director. “BOB doesn’t really relate to anything country. The Bull has more of a country feel and more of a country look to the logo. It’s more specific to our listeners.”
With the March 15 name change, The Bull shifted its music selection to include popular songs from the 1990s to the present. Previously, the station played 1970s and ‘80s songs. The station also regularly will play 20 songs in a row without advertisements.
O’Toole said The Bull added Big D & Bubba, a syndicated morning talk show that plays on 40-50 stations around the country. A newly added afternoon talk show will feature recently hired Jerry Kidd and Mid-West Family DJ Cameron Combs.
In February, Mid-West Family hired General Manager Scott Meier to lead the company’s local stations, including KKLH The Cave, KOSP The Beat and KQRA Q102.
