Mid-West Family Broadcasting broke ground this morning on its new headquarters at the 2400 block of East Elm Street.
Mid-West officials are planning to move into the one-story, 10,000-square-foot radio broadcast facility by Sept. 30. With a
price tag of nearly $3 million, the new facility will include a 155-foot tower and new studio equipment. Currently, Mid-West resides in 6,600 square feet with a 50-foot tower.
Springfield-based and locally owned Mid-West Family has operated out of leased space since 1992 in Battlefield Plaza, a Jared Enterprises-owned center anchored by a Food 4 Less store on East Battlefield Road.
In October, Mid-West President and General Manager Jason McCutchin said the move to East Elm Street - across from O'Reilly Automotive's headquarters - represented a chance for the company to move into purchased property.
"In looking at our options for our long-term plans for the company, it was better for us to build a facility," he said at the time.
Springfield-based MoDoCo Inc. is general contractor of the project designed by Becher Hoppe of Wisconsin.
Mid-West operates four radio stations in Springfield - Q102.1, 104.7 The Cave, 105.1 Bob FM and 92.9 The Beat.[[In-content Ad]]
