Mid-Missouri recruits nation's largest roofing manufacturer

Posted online
North America’s largest roofing and shingle manufacturer has selected mid-Missouri for a nearly $149 million facility that will create 125 jobs.

New Jersey-based GAF Roofing plans to build a 320,000-square-foot shingle manufacturing and warehousing facility on 147 acres in Moberly, according to published reports.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and GAF President/CEO Bill Tafaro made a joint announcement this week. According to the Columbia Tribune, construction is slated to begin July 1 and wrap up by December 2017. GAF is eligible for some $5.6 million in state tax incentives, according to the development plans. The Department of Economic Development incentives include $2.75 million in Missouri Build for "the location or expansion of large business projects," according to the DED website, and $2.17 million through the Missouri Works program provided GAF hits its job creation and capital investment goals.
