Microsoft's 'Spartan' browser replacing Internet Explorer

Posted online
When Microsoft chose the name "Spartan" for its new Web browser, they apparently weren't referencing the muscle-bound warriors in "300."  According to a preview by CNNMoney, the replacement for Internet Explorer is, well, sparse.

CNN reports the browser is slimmer, trimmer, stripped to the bare essentials - and fast. The preview states Spartan, whose name hasn't been officially finalized, isn't weighted down by an overabundance of menu options but is loaded with other features IE lacked.

Look for the browser, which replaces IE in Windows 10, to load sites and play videos with virtually no delays; allow users to "write" directly on a website; feature a Siri-inspired virtual assistant called Cortana; and offer the option to remove ads, videos and other distractions from websites.
