Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard deal faces global scrutiny

Microsoft’s plan to buy video game corporation Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion is facing global scrutiny.

The deal must survive government inquiries from New Zealand to Brazil, as well as U.S. regulators looking to strengthen the country's antitrust laws.

U.K. regulators on Thursday threatened to escalate their investigation of the deal if the companies did not find ways to ease competition concerns.

Only Saudi Arabia has approved the deal, which was announced more than seven months ago.
