Microsoft to lay off thousands

Microsoft is cutting thousands of jobs, primarily in sales.

The company said in a statement sent to CNNTech it is "taking steps to notify some employees that their jobs are under consideration or that their positions will be eliminated."

Most of the layoffs will be outside the United States, and the company has not verified how many positions will be cut.

This news comes after company reports surfaced last week indicating the company is looking to focus more on cloud sales.
