Microsoft settlement great news for businesses|ret||ret||tab|

The recent announcement by the Department of Justice that it has reached a settlement with Microsoft is great news for Missouri businesses and computer users. |ret||ret||tab|

However, several states' attorney gen-erals are threatening to pursue the case on their own. Obviously, some just can't let this go. |ret||ret||tab|

In response to this case, the Depart-ment of Justice released a Consumer Impact Statement, which stated that this settlement is in the best interest of consumers and will be a benefit to the entire industry and our economy. |ret||ret||tab|

The settlement allows Microsoft and the technology industry to once again focus on creating better products and more choices for consumers. |ret||ret||tab|

A recent survey of consumers issued by the Americans for Technology Coal-ition found that 70 percent believe this settlement is "fair and reasonable." It would appear that this country is ready to move on. |ret||ret||tab|

Supporters for continuing this case are the competitors of Microsoft. They are doing everything possible to stop this case from finally coming to an end. |ret||ret||tab|

Fortunately, Attorney General Jay Nixon has displayed wisdom by keeping the state of Missouri out of the case. We should applaud him for doing the right thing. |ret||ret||tab|

Sincerely, |ret||ret||tab|
