Microsoft launches $40B buyback program

Microsoft Corp. is buying back shares to the tune of $40 billion.

The share repurchase program was announced alongside news the company's dividend is increasing by 8 percent to 39 cents per share.

The company's shares rose 1 percent in extended trading on Tuesday.
