Microsoft beats expectations for quarterly results

Microsoft posted better-than-expected results in its fiscal fourth quarter earnings report.

Adjusted earnings per share were $1.46, compared with projections of $1.34 per share. Revenue of $38 billion beat the $36.5 billion expected by analysts.

For its fiscal first quarter, Microsoft projected $35.6 billion in revenue, which would mean 8% growth. Analysts were looking for a projection of $35.9 billion.
