Microsoft announces Windows 10 release date: July 29

Microsoft announced it will released its Windows 10 operating system on July 29.

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for those running a Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 PC. Windows Phone 8.1 users also are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 on their smartphones, according to CNNMoney.

Microsoft reportedly seeks to address customers' issues with Windows 8, which, overall, wasn't well received. Windows 10 will be more like Windows 7, but with some features from Windows 8, such as apps.
