Mickey, Minnie and measles for nine Disneyland tourists

Posted online
Rodents spread disease — just ask nine Disneyland tourists who left the park with a case of the measles.

CNN reports public health officials in California and Utah confirmed nine cases Wednesday, all of them visitors of either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim between Dec. 15 and 20.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, measles was considered eradicated in the United States in 2000. However, 2014 saw a record-breaking number of confirmed cases at 610.

The spread has been attributed to a recent rise in unvaccinated children, following outspoken celebrities, such as Jenny McCarthy, who claimed vaccines cause autism.

Additional cases are suspected at Disneyland, but have yet to be confirmed.
