"The need for affordable housing is crucial right now in Missouri, and this funding will help fill the need," said Maxwell in a Jan. 26 news release. "Our goal is to ensure every Missouri resident has access to the assistance necessary in securing a safe and affordable living environment for them and their family."|ret||ret||tab|

The funding will help pay for the development of 47 housing projects across the state, which will provide affordable living for low-income families and elderly residents. Grant money also was awarded to 123 services programs throughout the state that offer assistance in homelessness prevention, home repair, rental, construction/rehab and operating support.|ret||ret||tab|

MHDC approved the 47 statewide housing development applications out of a total of 114 submitted for financing. |ret||ret||tab|

"As Missouri's elderly advocate I have seen the struggle many of our elderly residents face in finding an affordable home when they have little income," Maxwell said. "We must continue to support these initiatives that provide for our residents who have already done so much to provide for us."|ret||ret||tab|

Among the eight senior living developments approved is the Cottage Hill development in Kimberling City. |ret||ret||tab|
