Metals firm Alcoa to split into two companies

Metals firm Alcoa announced today it would split into two publicly-traded entities next year.

The New York-based company said its legacy aluminum operations and higher-value and automotive businesses were no longer compatible.

The legacy aluminum firm will retain the name Alcoa. The other firm has yet to be named.
