Facebook parent company Meta has been ordered by a Washington state judge to pay nearly $25 million for campaign finance disclosure violations.
Washington’s transparency law requires sellers of advertising to keep and make public the information of those who buy political ads.
Meta has unsuccessfully argued in court that the law is unconstitutional because it “unduly burdens political speech” and is “virtually impossible to fully comply with.”
