Merriam-Webster this week added 640 words to its dictionary.
Among them are swole, defined as "extremely muscular," and omnicide, or "the destruction of all life or all human life (as by nuclear war)."
Peter Sokolowski, Merriam-Webster’s editor at large, said the company's two dozen lexicographers scan books, academic journals, newspapers, magazines, movie scripts and other media to find "a critical mass" of usage that warrants inclusion in the dictionary.
