Mental Strength in the Workplace

Posted online
Let’s start off by stating the obvious. Work can be stressful.

We say this as a health care provider that has more than 9,000 employees on our local Mercy team. We say this with a full understanding of how stressful health care can be whether you’re a doctor, a nurse, an EMT, a lab technician or a member of patient transport. At Mercy, we know the serious impact stress can have on our caregivers, which is why we’ve created several systems to help teams manage and process the grief and stress that’s inherent in our industry.

But we also say this knowing every industry and every job comes with its own stress.

If your teams are feeling stressed or burnt out, turnover tends to increase, productivity can dip, and workplace culture suffers. That’s why it’s so important to talk about mental health in the workplace.
