As Springfield’s first hospital, Mercy’s history is built around caring for the community. That mission is why it continues to invest in rural health care as more independent hospitals and clinics shut their doors. It’s why Mercy has partnered with educational leaders to train the next generation of health care professionals, and why it’s dedicated to the idea that health care should be accessible to all. “We know that when our patients are healthy, our community is healthy,” said John Myers, president of Mercy Springfield Communities. “Healthy patients miss less work. They spend less money on hospital visits and have less stress in their daily lives. Our goal is to make it easier for patients to access the care they need when they need it and where they need it.” Here are four ways Mercy is increasing health care access for community members in and around the Springfield area.
