Mercy Springfield Communities scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow for a new clinic on Republic Road.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at 2716 W. Republic Road, with construction slated to wrap up in fall 2019. Plans call on a clinic with a full-service lab and imaging equipment, according to a news release.
Springfield Business Journal previously reported this summer Mercy demolished a handful of properties on the 2-acre site to make way for the planned 13,000-square-foot clinic at the southwest corner of Republic Road and Scenic Avenue. Springfield building permits have estimated the cost at $2.7 million, with Larry Snyder and Co. on as general contractor.
It’s unclear if the new facility would replace or add to an existing Mercy family medicine clinic adjacent to the property at 2754 W. Republic Road. Mercy spokeswoman Sonya Kullmann could not be reached for comment by deadline.
Elsewhere in Springfield, Mercy recently closed its 3045 S. National Ave. urgent care center with plans to reopen it as Mercy Clinic Advanced Ambulatory Care, according to SBJ reporting.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
