John Myers, president of Mercy Springfield Communities, has been named to the Drury University Board of Trustees. He started serving a four-year term on June 1.
The board appoints the president, determines the course of study and instruction, and approves bylaws and regulations for the general management of the private, liberal arts institution and its employees.
Myers has been with Mercy since 2022 and served as president since 2024. He has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry and was formerly chief operating office at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
“John is a seasoned, thoughtful and innovative leader whose perspective will add immeasurably to the Drury board,” said Drury President Jeff Frederick, in a news release. “I'm thrilled that he is joining our Board of Trustees and know that he will offer wise counsel to Drury.”
Myers is a 2004 graduate of Ottawa University and earned an MBA from Regis University in 2009. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on several community boards, including ones for Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club of Springfield, Ozarks Technical Community College Foundation, Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and Leaders for Ozarks Region Involvement.
“It is an honor to be selected for this role and contribute to Drury’s work as a trusted pillar in our community,” Myers said in the release. “We are blessed in Springfield to have excellent colleges and universities that support this region’s growing workforce and commitment to education. At Mercy, we have seen firsthand how Drury continues to meet students where they are through innovative and creative course work and scheduling. Drury’s ability and willingness to assess student needs and adjust has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless students. I’m excited to work alongside my fellow trustees to advance this impactful work.”
Myers is the first appointee to the board since 2024 when 11 trustees were named.
